REVELATION 17:18
And the woman which thou sawest is the great city which hath kingdom over the kings of the earth. (Rev. 17:18, DRCB)

And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth. (Rev. 17:18, KJB)
This Babylon in Revelation 17:18 is identified by the angel as a “great city” and not a person. – And please note that this “great city” is ‘in existence’ and “reigning over kings of the earth” during the time of Apostle John’s writing of the Book of Revelation (Apocalypse).
This “great city” in Revelation 17:18 positively CAN NOT be the Ancient Babylon in Iraq because that Babylon was destroyed in 539 B.C. by the Medes-Persians, and it had NOT been “reigning over kings of the earth” long before Apostle John wrote the Book of Revelation (Apocalypse).
The angel’s explanation of “the mystery” of the “Great Harlot” to Apostle John ends here in this verse 18. The "mystery" is that the wicked idolatrous Babylon of the past still lives on in disguise! -- According to Revelation 17, she lives on in a “great city” that can be positively identified as . . . VATICAN CITY, ROME! -
PLEASE UNDERSTAND that the "One World Apostate Religion" being formed in Vatican City, Rome is not just Roman Catholicism alone, but a mixture of cult religions that are being united together by the Pope through the process of Ecumenism. – This “One World Apostate Religion” being formed will only last through the first 3-1/2 years of the Seven Year Tribulation Period because Antichrist will destroy it at about the middle of the Seven Year Tribulation Period. He will destroy it so that he can institute the ‘WORSHIP OF HIMSELF’ as the only form of worship on the earth.
